Water temps are settling into a solid spring pattern, and East Galveston Bay continues to produce.
We’ve been focusing on trout over shell flats, and the bite has stayed consistent with solid catches throughout the week. Active bait has been the key—if the area looks lifeless, it’s been best to keep moving until you find signs of activity.

Trout have been holding over shell flats in typical spring patterns.
Look for areas with visible bait movement and slicks—those zones have been producing the most consistent action.
Redfish are staged along grasslines in shallow water, ranging from 12 to 24 inches deep.
Drains, points, and small indentations in the grass have been the most productive ambush spots.
What’s Working
Imitation shrimp lures and soft plastic tails under Fish Smack popping corks have been leading the way.
A 1-foot leader has been the sweet spot to trigger more bites.
Deadly Dudley Rat Tails and WacAttack Flukes rigged on 1/8 oz jig heads are also producing steady results.
Focus on a steady retrieve with occasional pauses to keep the presentation natural around active bait.
